WARNING: Spoilers ahead.

Despite what half of the internet says, it was a pretty good movie. Superior to a whole bunch of other movies that are out, but certainly not the best I've seen.

The CGI and green screen effects were amazing, and they did a better job than what I would expect. Only a few shots looked even mildly cheesy. Such as the scene where they fly the plane between the two falling buildings, it looked like a video game. Another was when the cruise ship was tilting over, but it was still a nice part. I disliked the part after the massive plane crashes, and they looked up to see the animals flying overhead. Otherwise everything was fine.

The acting was great, they really made you believe those people were seeing what the movie showed, and not just a green screen. They cried at the right times, and responded to the events really well. Some idiot told me Nicolas Cage was in it. So I expected the acting to be great, but my expectations were still met.

I was told by many that the plot was just "Omg the world is ending", it wasn't. The plot was actually simply the five main characters (Including the children) trying to find their way to where the governments of the world had set up some sort of ships to survive it all. It was actually pretty complicated, but still nice. There were several stories running alongside that of the main characters, telling the story of two brothers from India, the young scientist who alerted the governments of the oncoming destruction. Then the Russian guy (Who is actually an antagonist in the plot) who is trying to get his sons to safety.

I was pretty sad that they killed off more protagonists than antagonists. Even though there were about only two bad guys. I was deeply unimpressed about Gordon's death, he was one of the greatest good guys, and they made him get caught in GEARS. That's a TERRIBLE death. Poor guy... :c
